The Flash Movie Casts "Dope" Star Kiersey Clemons as Iris West
After much speculation, The Flash movie has officially cast its Iris West. Dope star Kiersey Clemons has been tapped to play the female lead in the film, opposite Ezra Miller's Barry Allen.

Last month, it was reported that she was one of the top choices, along with fellow up-and-coming actresses Rita Ora and Lucy Boynton. But now that it's been confirmed, we can officially celebrate that Iris West, who is white in the comics, will once again be played by a woman of color, as she is in The Flash TV show. If we couldn't just get the TV cast to be in the movie, at least the film is maintaining that diversity.

The announcement comes after Dope filmmaker Rick Famuyiwa took over directing duties from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith. Clemons broke out in the Sundance hit last year, and has since been courted for more high-profile roles. She had a supporting role in the recent comedy Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and will also star in the Flatliners remake.
