Lupita Nyong'o Reveals Black Panther Plot Details
We finally saw the full cast of Black Panther on stage in Hall H at SDCC this weekend, and news has started trickling out about the supporting characters ever since. Now, co-star Lupita Nyong'o has revealed the first sketchy plot synopsis for the highly anticipated MCU film:
We already know that Nyong'o is playing Nakia, a member of the Dora Milaje order, which is a team of Wakandan women who act as Black Panther's personal bodyguards and army (they're also "potential wives," although I'm hoping Marvel will leave that part out of the film). But it's still very likely that she'll be one of the "two foes who come together," since in the comics, her character teams up with Killmonger, the villain confirmed to be played by Michael B. Jordan, after he saves her life. The Dora Milaje will likely be represented by Danai Gurira's character, Okoye, Nakia's partner in the comics who remains on Black Panther's side throughout.
Although, there's also a chance that Nyong'o's descent into villainy will be a slow burn, since Ulysses Klaw has already been teased in previous Marvel films. It's possible that she'll be an ally whose turn to the dark side will be reserved for future films, as seems to be the case with Baron Mordo in Doctor Strange.
Black Panther hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
