Watch: First Look at DC’s Animated Justice League Dark Movie
We were so hoping to see that live-action Guillermo del Toro adaptation of Justice League Dark, maybe with Matt Ryan reprising his role as Constantine. But we have to admit, this looks pretty awesome, especially since Constantine will, in fact, be voiced by Matt Ryan. Here's the first teaser for the upcoming Justice League Dark adaptation, which includes footage and behind-the-scenes goodness:
The first footage confirms that the line-up includes Deadman, Etrigan the Demon, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, and John Constantine. Justice League characters like Green Lantern and Wonder Woman will appear, and Batman will feature heavily as the audience's "window into their world," since he's a magical skeptic. It also confirms that the film is an "origin story" where the antiheroic, "dark" version of Justice League slowly learns how to work together, much like Suicide Squad.
The featurette also highlights the role of de facto leader Constantine, voiced by Matt Ryan, who played the character on the cancelled-too-soon NBC show to fan and critical acclaim. He's described as a "cool," James Dean-esque figure, as well as a "loner out of necessity" who ends up hurting the people he interacts with. Hopefully positive fan reaction to this film, and to Ryan's performance, will help motivate The CW to bring him into the Flarrowverse on a more regular basis.
Justice League Dark will be released sometime this year.
