Watch: Stranger Things Side-By-Side Comparison with All Its Classic Film Inspirations
Stranger Things has been hailed as a perfect homage to 80's classics, especially all things Spielberg and King. Now, Vimeo user Ulysse Thevenon has created a side-by-side comparison that lists many of the classic 70's and 80's references in the series, and both Stevens are heavily represented:
Steven Spielberg might be the most directly sent up, with obvious references to E.T. and Close Encounters. But there is still plenty of Stephen King in there, with nods to Firestarter, The Shining, Carrie, and IT, as well as other classic sci-fi/horror movies like The Goonies, Alien, Poltergeist, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Explorers. Missing from the video is the blatant Frighteners homage, when the monster reaches its hand through the wall, but if he had included all of them, it pretty much would have just been a re-post of the series.
Stranger Things season one is now streaming on Netflix.
