Mads Mikkelsen Confirms Rogue One Reshoots are Almost Complete, and Not a Big Deal At All
To say that people damn near lost their minds when it was revealed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story could, unfortunately, only be considered a mild exaggeration. The announcement brought with it claims of doom and darkness: Rogue One is a terrible movie, Disney is panicking etc. etc. It was hard for many Star Wars fans, myself included, not to get swept up in all of the anxiety. But, reshoots are a factor in any major production, and while they can sometimes represent serious concerns about a movie's quality, this doesn't seem to be the case with Gareth Edwards' Rogue One.

Now, in a new interview, Mads Mikkelsen confirms that those reshoots are almost complete, adding that he really doesn't see what all the fuss is about.

Here's what Mikkelsen had to say when Digital Spy asked him if he was involved in the reshoots.

Opening quote
Yes I have, and they will be done soon I guess, so yes in a few days.

But it's what he said when asked whether the reshoots messed with his schedule that was most enlightening.

Opening quote
No, it's kind of normal. In all the big-production films I've done so far, they have always called me back for little reshoots, it might be something that they want to change, the way we did it was wrong, or it might be something that they wanted to add so it's kind of a normal process on big films, they're covering all their bases.
Closing quote

This is a nice piece of reassurance from the man who will play Jyn Erso's father on the movie. Mikkelsen doesn't seem like the type to pander to fans, and his words give off the vibe that he genuinely doesn't see the reshoots as an issue. Add in the fact that both the Rogue One sizzle reel and new trailer both looked great, and it's probably about time we started looking forward to this movie instead of expecting a dud.
