Everything We Know About The 100 Season 4 So Far
The 100 just came off of a dark, turbulent, often wonderful, often controversial third season, and after SDCC this past weekend, we finally have our first real intel about what season four will look like. Here's everything we were able to dig up from The 100's Comic Con panel, as well as interviews, rumors, and that first little teaser at the end of the season 3 sizzle reel:

Will Lexa make another guest appearance?

Unfortunately, no. The Flame is still around, which means that her spirit is still with Clarke and the others to some extent, but Lexa herself won't be back this season.

Opening quote
"The City of Light is gone, ALIE is gone, but the Flame still exists, and the whole line of Commanders is in it," Jason Rothenberg said at The 100's SDCC panel. He went on to clarify, "Lexa's not coming back to the show. She won't be in season 4."

But here's who will return...

But on the positive side, Rothenberg also revealed that after their fates were left up in the air last season, Roan and Indra will both return, with Zack McGowan upgraded to series regular. Luna will also return, with Rothenberg praising the character as a "breath of fresh air" compared to the ruthlessness of the 100.

Not everyone will survive

Rothenberg describes this season as "The Earth strikes back," because the imminent irradiation of the Earth, which Clarke discovered in the season finale, will be the "big bad" of this season. Rothenberg called the Earth an "unbeatable foe," and that the conflict of the season "becomes not trying to stop it, because it's not stoppable, it becomes how do we survive? There are not enough life boats. The Earth is the ark." He said that not everyone can survive, so the characters will have to decide who will survive, and whether they deserve to survive after everything they've done.

Water will reportedly be a problem for the 100, as the radiation starts to spread, as well as electrical storms. The SDCC sizzle reel included footage of a huge electrical storm that Jason Rothenberg said "wouldn't happen until the end of the season."

Clarke struggles with leadership--again

According to Eliza Taylor, Clarke will struggle with whether to tell everyone that the world is going to end in six months, but presumably she will eventually, since the theme of the season is reportedly deciding who lives and who dies. Raven, according to Lindsay Morgan, "wants everyone to know because she believes in sort of crowdsourcing the answer."

Octavia will take a "dark turn"

Marie Avgeropolous said that after Lincoln's death and killing Pike, Octavia will be in a very dark place.

Opening quote
"Next season you're going to see Octavia take a very dark turn," she said at the SDCC panel. "And she's going to go back to doing what she does best: killing people."

Raven has an A.L.I.E. "upgrade"

Raven has always been a bad-ass character, but apparently after she forced A.L.I.E. out of her mind, she adopted some of the A.I.'s characteristics, which left her smarter and stronger than ever.

Opening quote
"When Raven fought off A.L.I.E and forced her out, A.L.I.E wasn't willing to go, so she left a little bit of A.L.I.E behind," she told Entertainment Monthly. "That made her smarter than ever. Just her mind is in 5th gear now. She can code and she can understand this new technology and Becca's work that no one else can.

"She's been through so much. Raven's just evolved. She's in a whole other place now. Raven's done it all. She's like, 'I've been to hell and back and frankly it was kind of boring. What else do you got?'"

Bellamy has not been redeemed

After Bellamy's abhorrent actions last season, I was afraid that all would be forgotten once he admitted he was wrong in the finale. But luckily, we can trust The 100 to remember what this character has done, as Jason Rothenberg said "not to expect Bellamy's redemption anytime soon."

And in the context of the imminent apocalypse, Bellamy might not be a top candidate to get on one of those lifeboats. According to Rothenberg, "Bellamy doesn't think he deserves to make it through all of this," and many of the other characters might agree at this point.

Bellarke won't happen anytime soon

In the same vein, Clarke isn't going to get over Lexa and jump into Bellamy's arms right away. According to Rothenberg, she will move on eventually, but it will take a long time to heal.

Opening quote
"She's still nursing a broken heart, and lost her soulmate in Lexa," Rothenberg told Hypable, "so she's not really ready to jump into another relationship. But at the end of the day, she's 18. She's an 18-year-old child still, in many ways, and so she will move on, for sure.

"And I can say, as the voice of Lexa - the person who created that character - that Lexa would want her to. Lexa would want Clarke to be happy again. As I think we all would want the people who we love to be able to - not forget us - but to move on and find happiness."
Closing quote

And since Clarke is bisexual, she could easily end up dating a man next, although Rothenberg won't name any names (at this point, I'm pulling for Roan).

Opening quote
"[Clarke] will be with somebody eventually. I'm not gonna say who, I'm not gonna say when, I'm not gonna say whether it's a guy or a girl - but, you know, she's bi, and that really means it can be anybody."

Everything is in disarray

Technically, there is neither a chancellor nor a Commander at the beginning of season four, so all the leadership positions will be up for grabs.

Opening quote
"Pike was the chancellor, so that's a vacuum that needs to be filled," Henry Ian Cusick told Entertainment Monthly. "I don't even know who has that pin. That pin has been moved around so many times, I'm surprised it hasn't been lost." He continues saying, "That's something that needs to be filled and that's kind of addressed in episode 1 of season 4. There's a power vacuum that needs to be filled there and also in Polis. There's no leader in Polis."
Closing quote

Presumably, either Abby or Kane will take over as Chancellor again, but you never know. And as for the Commander, the Flame is still around, waiting to be implanted into a Nightblood. There will reportedly be a search for more Nightbloods at the beginning of the season, and we'll meet at least one (or will it just be Luna?).
