Suicide Squad Cast List Confirms New Comics Villain?
Enchantress' role in Suicide Squad has been a little more mysterious than the other characters', leading many to believe that she is the main antagonist. But according to new rumors, spurred by the release of the official cast list, there may be a new comics character in the movie that sets all of the destructive events into motion.

In the film version of Suicide Squad, archaeologist June Moone is possessed by an evil, ancient witch called Enchantress, and Amanda Waller attempts to recruit her for the Squad. Whether she actually becomes part of the group is more ambiguous (which is why we classified her as a "wild card" in our Suicide Squad infographic), leading many to believe that she is the "villain" of the piece, and causes all of the destruction and carnage we see in the trailers. But with the reveal of the cast list (via Fandom), we now know that Incubus will appear in the movie, which means it might adhere more closely to the comics than we thought.

In the Suicide Squad comics, June Moone is possessed by Enchantress and recruited to Task Force X, and helps them go up against the demon Incubus, who needs to be reunited with his sister, Succubus. When she releases her Enchantress persona in order to win the fight, it's revealed that the Enchantress is actually powered by the ancient entity Succubus, and the Squad's greatest threat was among them the whole time.

It's possible that the film will follow the same route, although it would be a stretch to say that Incubus is the "real" villain. He's called "Businessman/Incubus" in the cast list, and is listed among the more minor roles (right beneath "Casino Boss" and "Hot Girl Patron"), so whatever they're planning to do with the character, he's not going to be the primary antagonist. He might, however, be the instigator that sets the events in motion, making Enchantress an unwitting and sympathetic villain.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5.
