Avengers: Infinity War Will Now Be Just One Movie
Earlier this year, we learnt that Marvel's planned Avengers: Infinity War Pt.1 and Pt.2 would be getting new names. Today, the studio delivered on their promise, but in a very different way than we were expecting.

From today, the next Avengers movie will be titled Avengers: Infinity War, that much is not a major surprise, but it's the fact that the subsequent Avengers movie is dropping the Infinity War tag altogether that's causing a stir. As of now, what was once known as Avengers: Infinity War Pt.2 is now simply being regarded as the Untitled Avengers movie.

When we first learnt of the name change, the Russo Brothers were keen to point out that the two movies were very, very different. That difference appears to have been stated loud and clear with this latest move, giving us a hint that the Avengers movies will take on a scope far beyond the famous Infinity War arc.

Joe and Anthony Russo still don't have a title for the second of their planned Avengers movie, but it looks as though this particular announcement is being used as a statement of intent for the direction they are taking Marvel's most famous superhero collective. The release dates for the two movies will remain as previously intended.

To clarify, here's the current release slate for Marvel's Avengers series.

May 4th 2018 - Avengers: Infinity War
May 5th 2019 - Untitled Avengers Movie

The natural reaction to these changes is one of fear and doubt, but this really seems like a perfectly reasonable move. Just so long as they don't go pulling a Divergent and releasing the 2019 Avengers movie on TV instead of in the theaters, it doesn't look like there's anything to worry about.
