First Full Trailer for Luke Cage Previews a Bullet-Riddled Harlem
Luke Cage is finally coming to Netflix this fall, and it's about to show us an entirely different corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first full trailer for the series showcases its distinctive tone and blend of different genres, which showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker describes as "a powerful fusion of dark drama, hip-hop, and classic superhero action."

This already looks very different from anything else we've seen in the MCU, and even more gritty and grounded than Daredevil and Jessica Jones. It's already been called "The Wire of superhero shows," and although that praise is premature, it seems like it has potential. His origin story seems a little less grounded than the parts that take place in Harlem, so hopefully it won't get too bogged down with the flashbacks, but so far so good, especially since the soundtrack and Mike Colter's charisma are to die for.

The series also stars Mahershala Ali (Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes), Alfre Woodard (Mariah Dillard), Simone Missick (Misty Knight), Theo Rossi (Shades), Frank Whaley (Rafael Scarfe) and Rosario Dawson, reprising her Daredevil/Jessica Jones role as Claire Temple. It takes place after the events of Jessica Jones, and will be followed by Iron Fist and The Defenders.

Opening quote
After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive who attempts to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But soon he is pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
