Patrick Stewart Says Wolverine 3 Might Be His Last Time Playing Professor X
Wolverine 3 will see Sir Patrick Stewart's triumphant return to playing Professor X, a role that he's been inhabiting for more than fifteen years. But according to the distinguished actor, this might be the end of the line for him, just as it supposedly will be for Hugh Jackman.

Opening quote
"I would imagine this is probably the end of this franchise for me," he told ITV of his role in Wolverine 3. "But the thing about science fiction and fantasy is that you can never, ever say it's the end, it's over."

The interviewer then reminded him that his character had come back from the dead before, to which he jovially responded, "Yes, I have, I have. Jean Grey vaporized me, from which you would think there would be no return."

So there's always a chance that he could come back, but at the same time, it would make sense if this were his last time playing Xavier. After Wolverine 3, the only movies planned in the X-Men franchise are all in the new timeline, which has James McAvoy playing the professor. So his statement is probably not a spoiler, but it's not good news, either.

But at least if this is his last time, Stewart promises to go out with a bang:

Opening quote
But watch out! In March, I'm going to be back on the screen again. A very different Charles Xavier, that's all I'm allowed to say. Nothing like the Charles Xavier you've seen in the past.
