New Godzilla Resurgence Trailer Rises From the Deep
Despite the American takes on the creature that pop up every few years, Godzilla remains a Japanese creation. And the monster returns to his rightful home in the upcoming film Godzilla Resurgence, which just released a bonkers new trailer.

The film looks like an old school, campy Godzilla movie in the best way possible. The beast is seen breathing fire, shooting purple lasers out of its back, and causing a river of blood to flood Tokyo. The effects are decidedly less slick than what we're used to seeing in films of this scale, but the also movie looks a lot more fun than Gareth Edwards' dull and plodding Godzilla from 2014. This incarnation isn't strictly CGI either, but rather a mix of animatronics, miniatures, and computer animation. Pretty much the only thing I don't like about the trailer are the obligatory Inception-style blaring horns, which don't fit in at all with what's on screen.

Here's the film's official synopsis, which may have gotten a little lost in translation.
Opening quote
"A cause unknown, an accident has occurred in the tunnels of the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, causing an emergency cabinet meeting to convene. Immediately afterwards, a huge creature appears, destroying town after town with its landing reaching the capital. The mysterious giant organism named Godzilla."
