First Full Trailer for Denis Villeneuve's "Arrival" Shows Us the Aliens
The first full trailer for Denis Villeneuve's mysterious alien invasion movie, Arrival, is here, and it's a lot more revealing than we expected:

The film follows a linguist, played by Amy Adams, as she attempts to understand the motivations of aliens who have inexplicably landed on Earth in twelve huge pods. As for the aliens themselves, in the trailer we get a glimpse of a starfish-looking thing (which is probably part of an alien), as well as inky, swirly alien writing that Adams' character will attempt to translate.

In the international trailer, which is possibly even more revealing of the plot, we see the outline of a full alien:

The international trailer is, unsurprisingly, more focused on different countries' role in this first contact narrative. It seems that different countries with varying amounts of political tensions will have trouble working together for a common goal that affects all of humanity (which is pretty realistic). We hope these trailers didn't just give away the whole movie, but it looks pretty great so far.

Opening quote
When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team - lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) - is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
Closing quote

Arrival will premiere at TIFF this year before coming to theaters on November 11.
