Flash EP Says Teddy Sears Will Return as Black Flash (Eventually)
Will we see Teddy Sears' Zoom return to The Flash? Yes and no, since according to EP Andrew Kreisberg, Sears will probably be back, but this time as an entirely different villain: Black Flash.

In the second season finale, Zoom wasn't exactly killed, but while preventing Zoom from destroying the multiverse, Barry attracted Time Wraiths, which desiccated Zoom's body and turned him into a creature that looked very much like Black Flash from the comics:

Black Flash

In the comics, Black Flash is essentially the grim reaper among beings with the Speed Force. When speedsters die, he returns them to the Speed Force, the source of their powers. Later in the comics, the mantle is taken up by Barry Allen for a time, and then it's taken over by none other than Professor Zoom. So rather than a farewell for the character, Teddy Sears' last scene seemed to tease his eventual return.

So does that mean Black Flash will be a villain in season three? Judging from statements from EP Andrew Kreisberg, probably not, but he will likely be a villain (and maybe even a Big Bad) in future seasons:

Opening quote
"Obviously we did that on purpose," Kreisberg told EW of the Black Flash reference. "We love working with Teddy [Sears]. He's such an amazing actor and amazing person, and was so much a part of the success of this show last season. There aren't any immediate plans for that, but you can't keep a good Black Flash down, so I'm sure we'll be seeing him in the future."
Closing quote

This will be very exciting when it happens, although we can probably rule out an appearance in season three. A villainous, black-clad speedster was revealed in set photos last month, which led many to speculate that the show was introducing either Black Flash or Black Racer (an avatar of Death that hunts those with speed force). But now, it's been revealed that the character is actually Savitar, a relatively minor comics character who primarily went up against Wally West. So there's a chance that Savitar will only last for the Flashpoint arc, and then there will be another villain in town, but it would be a little repetitive if it were another black-clad speedster. If we had to guess, Black Flash will probably be the Big Bad of season four.

The Flash returns for season three on October 4 at 8pm on The CW.
