Fans Petition ABC to Release the Pilot for Marvel's Most Wanted
Earlier this year, there was some serious disappointment among fans of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when they learnt that the show's first official spin-off had been scrapped. The news was all the more painful because Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had just been stripped of Bobbi and Lance, arguably the show's best double act, specifically so they could appear in the planned spin-off. The end result was an uncertain future for two of Marvel TV's most popular characters, and a whole lot of angry fans.

ABC has since come out to clarify why they opted against the show, with Channing Dungey simply saying that it "ultimately at the end of the day, did not feel as strong as some of the other pilots that we shot.".

If ABC thought that such an explanation would satisfy fans, they are sorely mistaken. While it is, of course, the network's sole right to pick and choose which shows they invest in, fans of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D would rather they at least had a say in the matter. To that point, a new petition has been created that implores the network to release the pilot for Marvel's Most Wanted and reconsider their decision based off of fan reaction, instead.

Opening quote
"I do not believe a small group of company executives can rightly speak on behalf of all Marvel fans around the world by deciding whether or not a new Marvel show is good enough to broadcast," said Dominic Ryland-Jones on Change.org

"So as a sincere request from the entire Marvel fanbase to ABC's Channing Dungey and Ben Sherwood, I would like to respectfully request for you to air the pilot episode of Marvel's "Most Wanted" and review the audience reaction. It's the least you can do after making Bobbi and Hunter's difficult departure from Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." all for nothing."
Closing quote

It's unlikely that this petition will change the minds of the network, but should it gain enough traction, there's no telling what could happen. Dungey did admit that they wouldn't stand in the way of Marvel should they wish to offer the show to other networks, but given its close ties to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. it's doubtful that a Netflix or a Hulu would want to take on a show that lives within the same immediate universe as a show on another network. Still, it can't hurt to add your voice to the growing list of angry fans.
