Deadpool Writers Confirm They're Currently Working on Zombieland 2
The Zombieland sequel has been in development since the film came out in 2009, but we were starting to lose hope that it would ever actually happen. Luckily, Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are assuring fans that it's very much in the works, and that they are working on it (with Woody Harrelson!) as we speak.

Wernick and Reese recently appeared on AMC's Geeking Out with self-proclaimed geeks Kevin Smith and Greg Grunberg. While on the show, they provided an update on the long-gestating sequel, and it sounds pretty promising:
Opening quote
"That is breaking news that we're on Zombieland 2 right now," Wernick and Reese said (via Comicbook.com). "We're sitting with Woody [Harrelson] tomorrow and are going to sort of walk him through some of the stuff we want to do. All the cast is pretty excited."
Closing quote

They stopped just short of confirming that Harrelson is coming back, but it seems pretty likely. Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg have both expressed interest in returning to the franchise over the last few years, but there's no word on Emma Stone or Abigail Breslin, and Stone in particular might be too busy. But we hope they can get the whole gang back together again (including Bill Murray, although we're not entirely sure how that would work).

In this Geeking Out clip, Wernick and Reese discuss Murray's cameo, and all the actors they asked who turned it down, including Sylvester Stallone, Kevin Bacon, Mark Hamill, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Dustin Hoffman:

Wernick and Reese have been talking about a sequel for years, and ultimately decided it would work best as a television adaptation. Amazon ordered a pilot starring Desperate Housewives' Maiara Walsh as Wichita, but it was not picked up to series. As a result, Wernick and Reese got the movie sequel back into gear, and started working on the script in February of this year.
