The Flash EP Greg Berlanti Is Making a Black Lightning DCTV Show
Greg Berlanti already has his hands pretty full, what with The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Blindspot, and now Riverdale, but it looks like he's taking yet another bite out of the DC Comics apple. According to a new report from Deadline, the mega-producer is in the process of creating a Black Lightning TV show.

Created in 1977, Black Lightning was one of the first major black superheroes to appear in DC Comics. He has been a member of the Justice League and the Outsiders (and was Secretary of Education for a little bit, while Lex Luthor was president), and if it comes to fruition, his series would be the first network show to star a black superhero.

A Black Lightning series has been in the works at WBTV for quite a while, but was shelved for other projects. Now, this new iteration has Berlanti as well as The Game and Being Mary Jane creator Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil at the helm, and is currently being pitched to networks by Warner Bros. Television. It's unclear whether the show would fit into the already-established Flarrowverse, but it will likely depend on whether The CW is interested. It might be a little overwhelming to have five superhero shows crossing over at once, but we would love to see them tackle the challenge.

Here's the synopsis for the series:

Opening quote
He made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he'll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend - Black Lightning.
