The Booster Gold Movie Won't Be Part of the DCEU
Booster Gold is going rogue. Fans were excited to hear that the funny, lighthearted showboat was getting his own movie in the DCEU, especially after the self-serious disasters that were Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad. But now, it looks like DCEU isn't getting a lighthearted installment, since the Booster Gold movie will be a standalone film separate from the burgeoning cinematic universe.

The Flash/Arrow/Supergirl/LOT producer Greg Berlanti, who is making the film, revealed in an interview with Vulture that there are no plans to connect Booster Gold to the wider universe.

Opening quote
As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds. It'd be a separate thing.
Closing quote
This is surprising, since Warner Bros. has invested so much in building their cinematic universe, but in certain ways it also makes sense. DC's TV shows are much better received than their movies, and are even better-loved than Marvel shows (at least the ones on traditional networks). This success is not entirely, but partially the result of their separation from the movie universe and relative creative freedom. (Although to be fair, the shows are very interconnected with each other, so this is probably just an effort to cut ties with the badly-received DCEU and get fans excited about the movie.)

Berlanti also revealed that the Booster Gold film was inspired by an aborted television series he was making with fellow Flash producer Andrew Kreisberg. Berlanti is working with Kreisberg and Flash writer Zack Stentz to adapt it into a feature film, under the guiding eye of Geoff Johns who is, ironically, the Kevin Feige of the DCEU.
