Supergirl and Superman Team Up in New Season 2 Clip!
On paper, it seems like a tough gig to follow Superman's act. Even Batman continually feels inadequate. But Supergirl pulled it off, crafting Kara Zor-El into an interesting, complicated, and fun character that had her own identity and struggles. Supergirl's first season met with praise from the likes of The A.V. Club, Salon, and Forbes, with The Los Angeles Times summing it all up: "Supergirl is just great television."

Now, with the move to The CW complete and the new season coming up in just two two weeks, new footage has been released showing Clark and Kara working together to save the day as Superman and Supergirl:

Today, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg broke down the clip in Entertainment Weekly and shed some light on how Kara and Clarks' relationship will change in the new season:

Opening quote
"The two of them actually show up to the same crisis...It's not a turf war, they just both heard about the same tragedy on the news and both flew into action...They haven't really gotten a chance to spend time together, especially since she's come out as Supergirl, and they both want that," Kreisberg says. "Both of them have a bit of sadness about them - they both have that sense of feeling alone, they both have that sense of feeling different - and both of them remark that that loneliness, that alienation, that isolation goes away when they are together."
Closing quote

The success of Smallville showed that superheroes don't have to be continually punching evil in the face to be interesting, and this new season of Supergirl seems to be building off of the same idea. When the villains are beaten and the day is saved, Kara is still human (or Kryptonian), and loneliness may be the one enemy she can't face alone.

Supergirl returns Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
