Warwick Davis Says Episode VIII Will End in a Cliffhanger
Earlier today, Adam Driver walked back his comments comparing Episode VIII to Empire Strikes Back. But now, another Star Wars actor is singing a different tune; Warwick Davis, who was recently confirmed to have a role in Episode VIII, says that the film will set up several cliffhangers, and will hit us right in the gut, just like Empire did.

Opening quote
"I think [The Force Awakens] sets up the trilogy very well," Davis told News.com.au. "Obviously, we're moving into the territory of Episode VIII very soon as well, and much like Empire Strikes Back I'm sure it's going to deliver some quite impactful story moments, and it'll leave us with some cliffhangers as well which resolve in Episode IX."
Closing quote

Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that Episode VIII is actually anything like Empire Strikes Back. Everyone references ESB when trying to hype a sequel, since it's the classic example of a sequel surpassing its predecessor. And although it's exciting to know that there will be some sort of cliffhanger ending, we probably could have guessed that just from the fact that it's a blockbuster setting up the final installment in a trilogy. But either way, the comparisons to Empire Strikes Back can only be a good thing, unless (or maybe especially if) they're referring to that rumored "I am your father"-esque twist

Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
