Jeffrey Dean Morgan Addresses That Blood Spatter in the Season Seven Footage
At NYCC last weekend, we got to see a very revealing sneak peek of The Walking Dead season seven, which showed the aftermath of Negan's infamous kill. Although we still don't know which character met Lucille yet, eagle-eyed fans noticed a few clues in the tantalizing footage, and came up with a few theories as to Negan's victim. In a recent interview, Jeffrey Dean Morgan didn't confirm any of these theories, of course, but he did heavily imply that fans are on the right track.

The actor was asked by Variety Latino if fans were right to analyze the streak of blood on Rick's cheek, which seems to indicate that the person who died was sitting next to him (or at least very close to him). He answered vaguely, with "a big smile on his face that lasted this entire quote":

Opening quote
"I mean, he's got a bloody face. It could be splatter. I could've slapped him. I could've spit on him. All I'm going to say to tune-in on the 24th and you'll get all those answers. So keep coming up with the theories, I love them. Everyone on the show loves the theories. You only have like ten more days or something. It's almost upon us."

At the very least, fans are on the right track by analyzing the evidence in the footage. (How could they not be, when it takes place directly after?) Most fans have been horning in on Maggie as a potential victim, since she was sitting directly next to Rick, but considering that there's only a little bit of blood on Rick's cheek, and Negan was taunting Rick about his "right-hand man," it was probably Abraham, who was sitting next to Maggie.

We still say that he probably killed two characters, but Jeffrey Dean Morgan insists that's not what he was implying when he said he was "not just going to kill one person in the premiere" in a recent interview with Den of Geek
Opening quote
"That's not what I said," Morgan said. "I did an interview with this guy and I was talking about Negan's arc and what he does in the course of being Negan on The Walking Dead. Instead of talking about the one person Negan kills-because Negan kills a lot more than one person on the lineup. And somehow he pieced that all together in such a way that it turned into the article that he wrote. It was to get people fired up. Negan does kill a lot of people in the next couple of years. Before we even meet him he's killed a lot of people. Negan's been around for a long time."
