The Walking Dead Has Already Been Renewed for Season 8
The Walking Dead has already been renewed for an eighth season, because of course it has. The show won't return for its seventh season until this Sunday, but as a show of confidence in its ratings juggernaut, AMC has ordered at least one more year of zombie mayhem.

Showrunner Scott Gimple has been hired for the eighth season, which will start with the series' 100th episode. Along with TWD, AMC has also renewed Talking Dead, which is the highest-rated talk show on television.

The renewal comes after fans were extremely disgruntled by last year's finale, although to be fair, it doesn't seem like they'll have to worry too much about ratings. While some fans have given up completely, and a few more will probably give up after they see who dies in the premiere, a bad night for The Walking Dead is still an amazing night for any other television show. It will probably take at least a couple more seasons for this show to die, no matter how mad the writers make us.

Opening quote
"Eeny, meeny, miny, more," said AMC president Charlie Collier, referencing Negan's famous speech. "What a joy to partner with Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple and some of the hardest-working people in television to bring The Walking Dead to the fans. And, most important, thanks to those fans for breathing life into this remarkable series right along with us."
Closing quote

The Walking Dead returns for season seven on Sunday, October 23 at 9pm on AMC.
