Norman Reedus Says The Walking Dead's Negan Is "Like the Joker"
Negan is often considered to be the best villain in the entire run of Walking Dead comics, and now we'll finally get to see him in all his glory in The Walking Dead season seven. Jeffrey Dean Morgan's performance (if not his entrance) has already been acclaimed by fans, and now that the hype train is in full swing, Norman Reedus is comparing his version of Negan to one of the greatest villains of all time.

In an interview with EW, Reedus responded to a question about Morgan's "interpretation" of the character by saying he's "like the Joker":
Opening quote
Jeffrey's killing it - no pun intended. He's great. He's super charismatic, and he's enjoying being this jerk way too much, as a matter of fact. You know, it's a real blessing we have him on the show. He's brought so much new energy to this show, and that character is like the Joker. It has to be great, and he's delivering.

Comparing Negan to the Clown Prince of Crime seems a little ambitious, but the point is well-taken. Negan does have superficial similarities with the Joker, as well as other classic villains like Hannibal Lecter and Harley Quinn, in the sense that he has a macabre sense of humor and an almost childish sadistic streak. And more importantly, Morgan seems to understand this aspect of the character, as his version of Negan in the season finale was brimming with humor and charisma. It's a testament to his ability that most fans hate the finale but still loved Negan's entrance.

Speaking of his entrance, Reedus said that all of the actors were completely in the zone during the filming of that scene, even when they weren't on camera:

Opening quote
He was really impressed with our cast that even off camera, they were giving him full tears, and they were giving him every sort of thing that would really be happening even when they weren't on camera. That's kind of rare on a set, you know? Sometimes you act to a tennis ball. So this is a different type of beast... I remember after the first day, Jeffrey was like, "Holy s-! Thank you guys for doing this. I've never been on a set like this where every actor, even when they're off camera, gives full tears and full snot."
