New Assassin's Creed Trailer Feels Like a Video Game, For Better or Worse
A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Assassin's Creed film, and it really ups the whole video game vibe.

Instead of leaning heavily into the period setting and the assassins - you know, the fun stuff - the trailer instead takes place mostly in the modern day. Michael Fassbender's Callum Lynch is a death row inmate who gets a second chance at life by being hooked up to the Animus, a device that allows him to virtually live out the life of his 15th Century ancestor, an assassin. You'd think at this point in the trailer the action would focus on that action-packed past, but instead there are a number of cuts showing that Lynch is really just playing a virtual reality video game. Like you'll see him fighting bad guys on a rooftop in Spain, and then the trailer will cut to show that he's actually just fighting nothing while hooked up to the Animus. It's a weird approach, and one that I'm not sure will work as well in a movie as in does in a video game, but I guess I'll find out this December. You can check out the trailer below and form your own opinion.
