Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Finally Brings the Gang Back Together Again
Last week's episode was a game-changer as we saw SHIELD go public again and the rise of a potential new villain, Senator Nadeer. But this week, in the aftermath of the blackout, it looks like we're finally getting the team back together.

Daisy gets shot in her attempts to protect the Inhumans' identities from the Watchdogs, and reaches out to Simmons for help. They team up to protect James (aka Hellfire) from the Watchdogs, only to discover he was working with them all along. Shocker. Essentially though, this minor plot twist served as the instigator that would reunite the team.

Mack and Coulson catch up with Robbie in an epic car chase featuring Lola vs the Hellcharger. The dynamic between Coulson and Robbie is beautiful to watch, and is something I really hope we get to see develop further in the coming episodes. When Simmons and Daisy get into trouble, the three rush in as backup. Robbie goes head-to-head with James, fighting fire with fire – literally. Robbie spares his life in compliance with Coulson's no-killing policy, which could mean that Ghost Rider is able to hold back even when the person is guilty of their "sins."  There was something almost sweet about Robbie respecting Coulson's no-kill rule. For a bloody vengeance-fueled loner, Ghost Rider's capacity for teamwork is oddly endearing.

The team-building continues with Daisy and Simmons finally working together again. It might have taken a bullet to the back to get Daisy to reach out, but it was worth it. Daisy tries to go off on her own again after getting patched up, but Simmons confronts her saying "we're in this together, so suck it up." Simmons has no time for your lonely "brooding path," Daisy. It's time to get the gang back together.

The hunt for the Darkhold aka, the Book of Sins serves as a common goal for our team. Robbie, along with Coulson and Mack, learn more about the "ghosts" from his Uncle Elias. Apparently, the company Elias worked for used the Darkhold's "infinite knowledge" to build a quantum particle generator. After most of the team turned into "ghosts" in a freak explosion, Elias snapped and put his boss, the man responsible, in a coma. It's not yet clear exactly how Robbie is connected to all of this, but since he's the only one able to kill the ghosts, the team needs him on board. According to Coulson, many have searched for the book before to no avail including Nick Fury, Whitehall, and even Red Skull.

If we're lucky, a mission this difficult might mean Aida the LMD will get to join in on the fun. Aida has been one of most intriguing aspects of this season so far. Her interactions with Agent May were by far one of the best things to come out of this episode, and I'm hoping the two will develop a bond over the course of the season. Besides, a team with the two of them working together would be unstoppable. To keep Aida's AI nature a secret from May and Coulson, Radcliffe teaches her that it's ok to lie in some situations. Yeah. That'll go well. Speaking of lies, Aida might have fooled May and Coulson, but Simmons caught on immediately. During her impending lie-detector test, Simmons will have not only to lie about working with Daisy and Robbie, but also about Aida. But as we know full well by now, there is nothing Simmons can't do. Still, it's possible that she might have to come clean to someone in order to avoid getting her team into trouble. Could Director Mace be brought into the loop? He might not agree with Coulson's methods and secrecy, but their goal is still the same, to "work together, to keep everyone safe".

Overall, the episode this week was a strong set-up for what should be an exciting plot of science and the supernatural working together. The show was always at its best when the team was working together, and exploring those relationships has been the beating heart of the show since the start. Robbie, Mace, Radcliffe, and Aida are all fantastic additions to the cast, and it will be exciting to see how they factor into the team dynamic. Next week, Ghost Rider and Quake join forces with the rest of the crew on the quest for the Darkhold.

Best lines:

In order to quell the hyperactivity in your reticular activating system we had to - very carefully, gently - kill you. Just a little bit.

Mack: Get in the car, I'm driving. Coulson: Oh hell no.

My car, I drive. You wouldn't fit behind the wheel anyway.

I get his car now right? Isn't this how this works?

Is he your sidekick now? Quake and Bond boy?

Funny, I was going to say the same thing. Without the accent.

Mack: Did two fire dudes just drop into a warehouse full of fireworks? Coulson: You had to see that coming.

*Daisy helping Simmons and Fitz hunt for the perfect apartment by secretly hacking them.

*Coulson's expression after Robbie says he made a deal with the Devil – gold.

* Oh, and Mack apparently has a full-time professionally made shotgun-axe now.
