The first trailer for Logan came out this morning, and we're still reeling from how amazing it was. Not only was it stylistically different from any other X-Men movie, it also had tons of reveals for Marvel Comics fans. Here are the most epic (and often violent) moments from the first trailer:

Logan is battle-scarred

Logan Trailer

We got our first look at a grizzled, scarred Old Man Logan yesterday, and speculated that Logan's healing factor had started to degrade, either with age or as a result of the same mysterious event that wiped out the other mutants. James Mangold revealed today that the healing factor is intact, it's just not as pretty as it used to be:

Opening quote
"In order to make a different Logan, and a different tone of a Wolverine movie, we felt like we couldn't hold on to every tradition established in all the movies religiously, or we'd be trapped by the decisions made before us," Mangold told Empire. "So we questioned whether Logan's healing factor causes him to heal without even a scar. We imagined that it may have when he was younger, but with age, he's getting older and ailing. Perhaps his healing factor no longer produces baby-soft skin. So we imagined he heals quickly, still, but it leaves a scar. The simple idea was that his body would start to get a little more ravaged with a kind of tattooing of past battles, lacerations that remain of previous conflicts."

Professor X is back!

Patrick Stewart is back as Professor X, and he's looking more tired and ancient than ever before.

X-23 has arrived

Logan Trailer

Young actress Sienna Novikov was recently cast as a mutant named Laura, leading many fans to conclude that she would be playing the "female Wolverine," X-23. This trailer not only unveiled the actress, and the character's tender relationship with Logan, but also all-but-confirmed that she's playing X-23 with that "she's just like you" comment. With Hugh Jackman departing the role after this film, he might be passing on the torch to a younger generation.

Is this Caliban?

Logan Trailer
Director James Mangold recently revealed the first image of the albino mutant Caliban, and this might have been our first look at him in the trailer. Judging from the desert apocalyptic landscape, his skin probably couldn't take exposure to the elements.

Mad Max rip-offs

Speaking of which, the hot, dry, industrial post-apocalyptic landscape in Logan looks a lot like the one in Mad Max: Fury Road, which can only be a good thing. Let's hope they manage to shoehorn in a flaming guitar.

Donald Pierce's Bionic Arm

Logan Trailer

The trailer revealed Boyd Holbrook as the villain Donald Pierce, a cyborg bent on killing mutants. It also revealed his trademark bionic arm, which was recently seen in set photos.

Logan vs. The Reavers

Logan Trailer

In the comics, Donald Pierce leads the Reavers, who were also recently seen in set photos. In the comics, the Reavers are a band of cyborg criminals whom Pierce assembles and leads against the mutants.

"You still have time"

Logan Trailer

This great shot at the end not only previews the father-daughter relationship between Logan and Laura, but is also set against the line "You still have time." Time for what? To live a normal life and raise Laura as his daughter? Since this is Jackman's last outing, I don't think it will turn out that way.

Wolverine vs. Wolverine

Logan Trailer

In this ominous shot, Logan seems to be fighting someone with similar claws, which seems to further confirm that Laura is X-23. We don't know why they would be fighting against each other, but we're excited for it.

They're earning that R-rating

Logan Trailer

In the red band trailer, that shot of X-23's claws is replaced with some head stabbing, as you do.

Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
