Daisy Ridley Says Rey Will Be More Prominent in Star Wars Merchandise
When Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys hit the shelves, did you ever wonder "Where's Rey"? Her character was absent from the first line, which was rumored to be the result of Lucasfilm's assumption that young boys wouldn't want to play with "girl toys." Star Wars fans will be pleased to know that is no longer the case. In an interview with Collider, Daisy Ridley who plays Rey, discussed Rey's absence, and how she will most definitely be prominent in future Star Wars merchandise.

The actress was actually surprised that Rey wasn't seen among the first wave of toys. Her co-stars John Boyega (Finn) and Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) were the main focus, but they weren't the only main characters. There was so much mystery about Rey, and the ending of The Force Awakens clearly told viewers that she was more important than we could possibly imagine. Her character should be featured full force in the next merchandise line.

Ridley claims that she's aware of the plan going forward, and that she personally met with higher-ups about future Rey toys:
Opening quote
Moving forward I think what they're planning-I've been told what the plan is for next year and it's really cool, really exciting."
Closing quote

She also says that a figure as important as Rey should be shown in every aspect, whether it's toys or posters, and that the popularity of the Rey toys disproved the notion that young boys wouldn't want to play with female figures:

Opening quote
"I think it's a great moment of what's happening in the world with girls and how different people are playing and how they're interacting with the things they see in popular culture. So yeah, it's cool."
Closing quote

Who wouldn't love to see a Rey figure in a Starkiller Base playset? She's a character that boys, girls, and adults can relate to. That's a tribute to Ridley's acting because her performance of Rey really brought the character to life. One thing's for certain,:f Ridley is right, next year fans will get a lovely surprise when Star Wars Episode VIII merchandise is released!

Star Wars Episode VIII is set to hit theaters December 15th, 2017.
