Kevin Feige Says Captain Marvel Will Be the Strongest Character in the MCU
Captain Marvel is coming to the MCU, and her arrival is already highly anticipated. Not only is she the (long overdue) first female character to headline a Marvel movie, she'll be played by Academy Award winner Brie Larson. Now, we have yet another reason to get excited: Captain Marvel will apparently be the most powerful hero in the MCU.

Kevin Feige recently spoke to Vulture about Brie Larson's portrayal of the character, and discussed the need to make the character flawed in order to balance out her awesome powers:

Opening quote
"It's very important to us that all of our heroes do not become silhouette-perfect cutout icons. All of the Marvel characters have flaws to them, all of them have a deep humanity to them. With Captain Marvel, she is as powerful a character as we've ever put in a movie. Her powers are off the charts, and when she's introduced, she will be by far the strongest character we've ever had. It's important, then, to counterbalance that with someone who feels real. She needs to have a humanity to tap into, and Brie [Larson] can do that."

It's interesting that she will be considered the most powerful, especially considering that Thor is a bonafide god and Scarlet Witch's powers are basically infinite. This is probably a hint that she will have similar powers to the iteration of the character called Binary, who was created from an experiment by the alien race The Brood. While Carol was Binary, she not only had the standard superhero powers of superhuman strength, stamina, flight, durability, and resistance to toxins, but she could also tap into the energy of "white holes," a theoretical stellar structure that is essentially the reverse of a black hole, which would allow her to harness stellar energies. So yes, if she's Binary that would most likely make her the most powerful hero in the MCU.

Feige further hinted that Danvers will be Binary by saying that she occupies the "cosmic" side of the Marvel Universe:

Opening quote
"With Captain Marvel," continued Feige, "there's so much potential in the comics and there have been so many incarnations of her powers and the characters who've had that mantle that we've been focusing in on exactly how do we tell her origin. How does it fit into the cosmic side of our universe? How does it fit into what we're doing with the next Avengers movies? So really, that's what's been delaying that particular announcement."
