Jessica Jones Season 2 Will Have Only Female Directors
Jessica Jones was a huge boost for the already thriving MCU, delivering one of the best TV shows to ever come from Marvel. On top of that, it featured one of the very best live action antiheroes to ever grace the small screen, and quite possibly the best live action villain in the entire MCU as well. Marvel was lacking strong, female centric stories and properties in their cinematic universe, and Jessica Jones perfectly stepped up to fill the void. Now, it's been announced that the show's second season will have only female directors helming the show.

In 2016, women were terribly underrepresented as small screen directors, with only 17% of all TV show episodes being directed by females. That's only a 1% increase since last year, and anyone with eyes can see it's not because women aren't doing a good job behind the camera. While Wonder Woman may be the idealistic feminist comic character, Jessica Jones is arguably the realistic feministic comic character, so it makes perfect sense for Marvel to put more female creators in charge of their hit Netflix show.

Krysten Ritter took quite well to the news, tweeting that having an all female lineup for directors was "huge." Co-star Rachael Taylor, who plays Patsy Walker, also sent out a tweet in celebration of the decision, and even Finn Jones, who plays Iron Fist, showed his support in a tweet as well. The MCU has definitely been upping their diversity lately, and from all the positive buzz they've gotten for it, it's definitely paying off.

Jessica Jones season 2 will hit Netflix sometime in 2018.
