Elektra Will Be a Main Character in The Defenders
The Defenders has been adding familiar faces to their cast left and right, and now they've just added another one, this time as series regular. Elodie Yung will officially return as Elektra for the team-up show, and will appear in all eight episodes alongside Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.

We always knew that Elektra would come back after her "death" in Daredevil, since we saw the Hand retrieve her corpse to resurrect her as the all-powerful weapon Black Sky. But it's big news that she's coming back for Defenders, rather than Daredevil season 3, and shows that she will have an even more significant role in the Marvel/Netflix universe than we thought.

But will she return as hero or villain? Since she'll likely be under the control of the Hand, it's safe to say she'll be a villain at first. But since Sigourney Weaver is playing the mysterious Big Bad, it also seems likely that she'll return to the "good" side (as much as Elektra ever does), as a minor villain probably wouldn't appear in all eight episodes. It's possible that this is the first step towards Elodie Yung joining the burgeoning Defenders team. After all, no one said that the team would only consist of the four characters who got their own TV shows.

This would be great news. Not only would Yung add more diversity to the Defenders line-up, but her performance was one of the best parts of Daredevil season 2. She's one of the most popular side characters in the Marvel/Netflix universe, along with Jon Bernthal's Punisher and Simone Missick's Misty Knight. Now we just need Misty to join the Defenders and Frank to be confirmed for the Defenders series, and we'll be very happy campers.

Defenders comes out on Netflix in 2017.
