Mass Effect Andromeda Details Leaked Ahead of N7 Day Reveal
Today is N7 Day, when BioWare celebrates the anniversary of the release of the megahit Mass Effect series and teases the next chapter in the ongoing space saga: Mass Effect Andromeda. A whole slew of reveals is set to drop today, but so far we've already spotted a few leaks, the most prominent being the release of the game's details on retailer sites ahead of its release date, which is early 2017. Here's a picture of what the Deluxe Edition's box art will look like (thanks, Wario64!):

But even more titillating is the game's description, which teases a much heavier focus on exploration and colonization than the previous games:

Closing quote

That's right—multiplayer mode, destructible environments, and a skill tree that's potentially similar to Skyrim's mix-and-match system. According to GameInformer, the loyalty missions will return, too—how could they not? And if you want a look at what gameplay will be like, BioWare just released a new trailer on the Mass Effect Twitter:

Mass Effect has gone through a long evolution since the first game was released back in 2012: from infinite ammo to thermal clips, cluttered inventories to a much more streamlined upgrade system, and from a static conversation wheel to Paragon and Renegade interrupts, not to mention the changes to the combat, biotic, and tech classes. Throughout all of the games, though, the formula was basically the same: the damn Council doesn't listen, so you and the Normandy crew have to stop the giant cosmic threat from engulfing the universe. This time around, though, it looks like we'll be getting to see what it's like to be a real explorer on the front lines of human colonization of other worlds, where nothing is charted or known, rather than an extra-judicial, interstellar hero bouncing around a star map that's already well-established, all while sipping margaritas in an air-conditioned spaceship. "Desperation" was never a theme of the old Mass Effect games, except in the final missions. In Andromeda, however, colonization and exploration could prove to be a lot more dynamic. We'll see—once these calibrations are complete.

Mass Effect Andromeda is slated to release March 2017. Stay tuned to Outer Places for more N7 Day updates!
