John Wick’s David Leitch to Replace Tim Miller as Director of Deadpool 2
Most fans were disappointed to hear that director Tim Miller left the Deadpool sequel due to creative differences with Ryan Reynolds. While Reynolds may be the perfect man for his part, Deadpool's success was undoubtedly due at least partly to Miller's experience and talent behind the camera, and finding the right guy to replace him was always going to be a challenge. However, it looks like that challenge may have been met, as Hollywood Reporter has recently announced that John Wick co-director, David Leitch, has joined the crew.

Leitch was undoubtedly recruited due to his expertise with action, the greatest example obviously being John Wick, which he co-directed with Chad Stahelski. However, Leitch also spent years as a stunt coordinator and is even a co-creator with Stahelski of a stunt company named 87eleven. While Miller's awesome abilities with action sequences are undeniable, Deadpool 2 may have scored one of the most apt replacements possible judging by Leitch's track record.

Interestingly enough, Leitch won't be directing the third installment in the franchise. Plans for Deadpool 3 are already underway, and Fox is currently searching for the right guys to pen the script and helm the film. Of course, Leitch's non-involvement in the project could always change. If Deadpool 2's success rivals that of the original's, then it wouldn't be surprising to hear of Leitch signing on for the third film as well.

It's rumored that the creative differences Miller and Reynolds experienced were over who to cast in the role of Cable, the character who was promised in Deadpool's post-credits scene to appear in the sequel. However, no official sources have actually confirmed this to be the case. Whatever the reason, it was a shame to see Miller leave the project; yet it's great to see Leitch join. Hopefully, he brings the same nuance and innovation to Deadpool 2 that Miller did with the original, and they're able to create something totally brand new and unexpected all over again.

Deadpool 2 currently has no tentative release date, but it's expected to arrive early in 2018.
