Rogue One Breaks Pre-Sales Record for 2016
If anyone had any doubt, we can probably rest easy about Rogue One's box office performance. The first Star Wars anthology movie finally started selling tickets on Monday, and promptly broke the record for biggest pre-sale day of the year.

For all of those worries about Rogue One's reshoots and tone, it doesn't look like fan excitement has been dampened in the slightest. Fandango reported (via THR) that Rogue One had the biggest pre-sale day of any movie in 2016, which led to the site's overall biggest pre-sale day of the year, and its second biggest pre-sale day of all time, after The Force Awakens.

Even more exciting, Rogue One sold 90% of the tickets The Force Awakens sold on its first day, which might be great news for its box office returns. It's currently tracking to make $130 million on its first weekend, which would be the biggest December opening after TFA, which made $248 million. That would already be an amazing achievement, but if the hype continues to grow, it might be even bigger than we expected.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16.
