Two Exciting Sci-Fi Shows Hit Streaming Services Today
Netflix and Amazon are at the head of the game in the era of Peak TV, with the streaming services garnering a combined 17 Golden Globe nominations earlier this week. Today, they're each releasing a new season of an exciting sci-fi series—the premiere of new Netflix series The OA and season two of Amazon's The Man in the High Castle—and we can't decide which one we want to watch first.

The Man in the High Castle has the benefit of a stellar first season, not to mention the promise of finally showing us the titular "Man." If you're not already watching this alternate history dystopian series (in which the Axis powers won World War II), you should be, as it's a well-written and well-acted piece of sci-fi and social commentary all rolled into one.

That being said, we're so, so curious about The OA. The show was shrouded in secrecy, with Netflix not making an official announcement before dropping a surprise first trailer earlier this week. The premise is intriguing, with Brit Marling playing a young blind woman who returns after a mysterious disappearance with her sight restored, and the creative team has a great track record. Marling is writing as well as starring, and her longtime collaborator Zal Batmanglij, who worked with her on The East, Another Earth, and Sound of My Voice, is writing and directing. Hopefully this will live up to its potential and give us some relief from our Stranger Things withdrawal.

The Man in the High Castle season two and The OA season one both start streaming today on Amazon and Netflix, respectively.
