Hackers Break Into Marvel and Netflix's Official Twitter Accounts
Hail Hydra! After hitting Netflix's account with a hacked tweet earlier today, the hacking collective known as OurMine has broken into the motherlode: Marvel Entertainment.

OurMine has been hacking prominent accounts for the last year or so, including Channing Tatum, Mark Zuckerberg, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Uber CEO Travis Kalanick. According to an expose from Buzzfeed earlier this year, the team is headed by a Saudi Arabian teenager who goes by the name "Ahmad Makki." This morning, OurMine took over Netfliix's account and tweeted about the company's lack of security, and then they went after Marvel, taking over not only their main account, but associated accounts like Black Panther, Captain America, Iron Man, Ant-Man, Thor, Doctor Strange and Marvel Music.

According to Tech Crunch, OurMine operates by testing major influencers with large social media followings for weak passwords. They may be finding out passwords from huge dumps, such as the LinkedIn hack earlier this year, or indirectly finding them through apps authorized to access their accounts. It's a good lesson for everyone to be more careful with their passwords and security—although who knows if that's the group's intent.
