Obi-Wan And Darth Maul Will Fight Again In 'Star Wars Rebels'
The moment Darth Maul unleashed his double-bladed lightsaber, and his ensuing fight with a young Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, was the most memorable scene in The Phantom Menace. And while that duel ended Maul's career in the films (you could say it split his film career in two), the not-quite-dead Sith reappeared often in shows like Clone Wars and Rebels.

And now, Star Wars Rebels is setting up Darth Maul to face down Obi-Wan once again in a rematch several years in the making. The new mid-season trailer for Rebels season 3 is packed full of Obi-Wan, although most of it is in hologram form. But toward the end, with only a few words and lightsabers drawn, we see the two in person.

The full mid-season trailer is below. If you just care about Kenobi staring down Maul, then skip to the 2:49 mark, but the entire trailer is worth a watch.

With that rematch on the way, Rebels has been full of promising fanservice moments this season. The classic Expanded Universe villain Thrawn has already been reintroduced, and Forest Whitaker's Rogue One character, Saw Gerrara, will soon come back as well. Saw already showed up back in Clone Wars, but this time Whitaker will voice him again.

But of course, to see Obi-Wan duel the man who destroyed his master, and to see Maul duel the man who destroyed his legs, should be quite a spectacle. Star Wars Rebels returns to Disney XD on January 7.
