Keegan-Michael Key To Be Hunted In 'Predator' Reboot
As Shane Black's The Predator skulks closer to its 2018 release date, more casting announcements are revealing who gets to be hunted by the famous alien. And the next actor to be placed in the thermal imaging crosshairs is Keegan-Michael Key, of Key & Peele. The news comes just a day after he showed up on the Daily Show to retire his beloved presidential Anger Translator, Luther, in a final sketch alongside Jordan Peele as President Obama.

With the reboot being over a year away, details are scarce, but the Hollywood Reporter says Key's character will help hunt the creature, although it's nearly always the other way around in Predator movies. Being hunted alongside Key will be ex-marines Boyd Holbrook (from the upcoming Logan) and Moonlight's Trevante Rhodes, while Olivia Munn will co-star as a scientist. It's unknown if Shane Black himself will appear in the film, given that he appeared in the original with Arnold Shwarzenegger, and was the first to be killed off by the Predator. Obviously he'd have to play a new character since, you know, his old one would be long dead.

While it could be assumed that Key will be comic relief, since he has the strongest comedic chops out of the otherwise stoic-sounding cast, it's also possible that Key might be preparing for a more serious role. Either that or The Predator might be lighter fare than the original, given Black's recently snarky work with The Nice Guys and Iron Man 3. If you're curious to see what Key looks like while fighting aliens, you can always watch the Key & Peele "Alien Imposters" sketch to pass the time.

The Predator is slated for release on February 9, 2018.
