Netflix Releases 8-Bit 'Stranger Things' Browser Game
With Stranger Things season 2 still in the works, fans who can't get enough of running from Demogorgons have a new way to pass the time: a new browser game released by Netflix, and starring Netflix characters.

Called only the Netflix Infinite Runner, which can be played here, the game is pretty self-explanatory based on that title. It's a simple playable advertisement with 1980s-style graphics and even a faux-arcade machine frame, and you run and jump and collect power-ups. What makes the game stand out is its four modes, starring various heroes straight from Netflix's enormous collection of original shows, and with 8-bit themes of each show beeping in the background. There's Piper from Orange is the New Black, Pablo Escobar from Narcos (although infamous drug lords make for odd player characters), and Marco Polo from... Marco Polo. And biggest of all is the Stranger Things mode.

The Stranger Things mode sees you play as Mike Wheeler (and occasionally Eleven, if you get enough power-ups), and follows a simplified storyline of the show. Very simplified, since all you do is run away from soldiers, g-men and the Demogorgon. Your only button is the space bar, which lets you jump and double-jump, so try to last longer than Barb did.

Netflix has been pushing Stranger Things these past couple days without any major announcements. It's possible that they're drumming up interest before dropping something major (we've only gotten teasers for season 2, no trailers). But of course, it could also be nothing. At least there's a game to play in the meantime.

Season 2 of Stranger Things is expected to drop in summer 2017.
