'Twin Peaks' Premiere Date Finally Revealed, and It's Sooner Than You Think
For a while there, it seemed like we might never see the revival of Twin Peaks. The new series was first announced over two years ago, but after a good deal of drama (including the brief departure of creator David Lynch), it eventually got back on track and concluded filming last April. And now, we finally know when we'll get to see it.

Showtime has announced that the first two new episodes of Twin Peaks will premiere on Sunday, May 21 at 9 p.m. Immediately following that, the next two episodes of the series will be made available on Showtime's streaming platform. That means if you want to stay up all night on May 21, you can binge the first four hours of the Twin Peaks reboot.

However, after that, the show will have a more traditional (read: less binge-friendly) release schedule, and will air pretty much weekly on Showtime. There will be a total of 18 episodes, giving fans something more akin to the TV seasons of old rather than the Netflix era of today, where 8 and 10 episode seasons are the norm. While more episodes certainly sounds like good news to fans who haven't seen any new material since the 1992 film Fire Walk With Me, more Twin Peaks doesn't necessarily mean better Twin Peaks.

The show's 8 episode first season is considered a masterpiece, while its 22 episode second season lost loads of viewers over its run, leading to the show's cancellation. It remains to be seen how the new episodes will be received, but one thing's for sure: We won't have to wait too long to find out.
