ABC Offers Update on Their Mysterious New Marvel Show
In addition to taking over cinemas, Marvel Studios is well on their way to dominating television as well. Their first three Netflix offerings have all been hits, with Iron Fist and The Defenders looking to soon continue that tradition. ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has a devoted and passionate fanbase; and future projects like the CW's Cloak & Dagger , Hulu's The Runaways, and the massive Inhumans event on ABC all ensure that the House of Ideas still hasn't come close to running out of, well, ideas. But there's one upcoming Marvel TV show that's still shrouded in mystery.

Back in 2015, it was announced that John Ridley, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Twelve Years a Slave, was working on developing a Marvel TV show for ABC. It's been some time since we've heard anything about it, and today the head of ABC, Channing Dungey, gave an update on the series - but he still didn't reveal what it's about.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Dungey said:

Opening quote
"Yeah, so John is working on a rewrite of that script for Marvel at the moment. We have not seen a new version of it. He's been on production of his show, over in London, and on season 3 of American Crime, so those are the things that have been top of mind for him of late. But I have heard from Marvel that he is working on a revision to that script."
Closing quote

OK, so we know... nothing. But it does at least seem like the new series is still happening, just not any time soon. As far as who the series is about, that's still anyone's guess. The Kamala Khan version of Ms. Marvel is a popular choice, especially since Ridley has spoken of the series having a socially conscious bent (Khan is a Muslim-American), but he has never specifically mentioned her or any other potential subject. Marvel's COO Joe Quesada has also spoken of Kamala appearing in other media.

Hopefully one day soon we'll find out just what Ridley is cooking up for Marvel, but for now we guess it's good enough just to know that he is still working on something for them.
