Peter Dinklage In Talks for Major 'Avengers: Infinity War' Role
As the star of one of the most popular shows on television, it makes sense that Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage would be eyed for major franchises. And Marvel is reportedly in talks to do just that, with plans to cast Dinklage in a "key role" for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.

According to Variety, Marvel and Dinklage are in early negotiations, although they haven't revealed who exactly he'll be playing beyond that he's an important character. If things go as planned, Dinklage will be appearing in both next year's Infinity War and an untitled Avengers sequel the following year. It'll be Dinklage's first MCU film, but not his first superhero movie appearance, since he played Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past back in 2014. He was the stern creator of the Sentinel robots then, so maybe he'll get to show off more of his Tyrion Lannister wit this time around.

This is going to add another big name to what's likely to be an enormous cast, with most of the Avengers and Josh Brolin (as Thanos) already signed on. Others like the Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange will have roles to play, and the directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, have also let slip that Captain Marvel will appear (played by Brie Larson). Any superhero who's been in an MCU movie is fair game right now.

Marvel's plan is to shoot both Infinity War and the untitled sequel back-to-back, probably because they were originally planned as a two-part adaptation of the Infinity War story. Between the large cast and a culmination of several years of MCU plot points involving the Infinity Stones, it's going to be a sprawling story to tell. And between Game of Thrones and now this cosmic superhero extravaganza, Dinklage has a pretty full schedule on his hands.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently slated to release May 4, 2018. The untitled sequel is scheduled to come out May 3, 2019.
