'Powerless' Teaser Reveals Alan Tudyk will Play Batman's Cousin
NBC's superhero comedy Powerless, following a hapless team of businessmen who deal with the mass destruction caused by DC heroes and villains, has gone through major changes during its development. First showrunner Ben Queen departed (though he's still on as writer and executive producer), and the show recently underwent a big revamping to tie it closer into the DC universe. How much closer?

Well, a new teaser posted on the show's Twitter revealed that Alan Tudyk will be playing "Van Wayne," cousin of a certain Bruce:

Inventing a new relative for Batman could cause all sorts of complicated issues, like why he went to live with his butler instead of said relatives. But considering the first thing Van does is call cousin Bruce "B-Dubs," that question may get answered pretty quickly. Tudyk (who voiced K-2SO in Rogue One and played Wash in Firefly) seems to be playing a sleazy "used car salesman" type of role this time around, as the head of a company which makes products for bystanders who live and work beneath superhero battles. But he doesn't seem to care for improving their lives all too much, if his smooth-talking exchanges with star Vanessa Hudgens (who plays R&D director Emily Locke). Ron Funches, Christina Kirk, and Community's Danny Pudi will co-star.

Here's the new synopsis, made before the reveal of this new Wayne:
Opening quote
In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don't need superpowers to be a hero.
