Marvel Casts 'Cloak & Dagger' Stars For Their Freeform Show
Marvel Comics
Of all the upcoming Marvel TV projects out there - Iron Fist, The Defenders, Inhumans - the one receiving the smallest amount of attention is Cloak and Dagger. We've heard very little about the young adult-targeting Freeform series since it was first announced last April, but it's definitely still on the way, as Marvel announced in a press release that it's found the show's two stars.

According to Deadline, the young actors tapped to portray the romantically-linked superheroes are Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson (Cloak) and Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen (Dagger). Joseph appeared in HBO drama The Night Of, while Holt is best known for her roles in Disney Channel offerings like I Didn't Do It and Girl vs. Monster

The show will focus on the romantic relationship between the two heroes, whose unique contrasting powers - Dagger generates "daggers" of light while Cloak can transport matter to the Dark Dimension - complement each other. Showrunner Joe Pokaski had this to say about the show finding its leads:

Opening quote
"The characters of Tandy and Tyrone have always stood out to me ever since I first met them in the pages of Marvel comics when I was a boy. When Olivia and Aubrey read for the roles, these characters leapt off the page. We're so excited to see what these talented young actors bring to the Marvel Universe."
Closing quote

The press release further expanded on the two characters' personalities as they'll appear in the show: Dagger is a formerly privileged girl whose life was destroyed in a storm, while Cloak was a formerly fearless boy who became sheltered through some traumatic incident. And of course, both are impacted by an "unexpected encounter" with each other. Both are vague, but Marvel should start releasing more info as the series approaches.

Cloak & Dagger is expected to premiere sometime in 2018.
