'Star Trek: Discovery' Shares Behind the Scenes Look at Uniforms, Captain's Chair
CBS
Star Trek: Discovery will boldly be here before you know it, so CBS (or better to say CBS All Access, their streaming service) is ramping up its efforts to promote the next installment in the spacefaring saga by releasing a new behind the scenes video.

The video starts in grand fashion, talking about how Gene Roddenberry created the original series over 50 years ago. Now, with the new show, they're looking to continue that legacy of exploring the Final Frontier, and they're giving fans some morsels of what they can expect. There are brief shots of the new uniforms, which look both classic Star Trek as well as something a little different - and snazzier - than the Starfleet uniforms of the past. There's also a quick but flashy look at the new captain's chair.

But the best parts about the video are the scenes from the actual production, which boasts some seriously impressive physical sets. Check out the clip for yourself below:

There's no look at any of the cast yet, which will star Sonequa Martin-Green from The Walking Dead, and we don't see much of the USS Discovery's bridge beyond said chair. But it's enough to remind Star Trek fans out there that a new show really is on the way, and that's about as much as a good teaser can hope for.

Star Trek: Discovery was originally scheduled to premiere in May of this year, but that has been pushed back to an unspecified date. The series will now likely premiere either in the fall or early in 2018, with the pilot debuting on CBS before the rest of the 13 episode season moves over to the online subscription service, CBS All Access.
