Michael Bay Swears 'The Last Knight' Will Be His Final 'Transformers' Movie, For Real

Michael Bay has made a habit of declaring that whatever Transformers film he's working on will be his last. Yet, when each new film rolls out, there is Bay behind the camera, ready to make stuff AWESOME. This time, however, Transformers 5: The Last Knight could really be the end of the line. For real. Totally, 100%.

In a letter penned on his website, Bay addressed fans directly:

Opening quote
"It's bittersweet for me. With every Transformers film, I've said it would be my last. I see the 120 million fans around the world who see these movies, the huge theme park lines to the ride and the amazing Make- A-Wish kids who visit my sets, and it somehow keeps drawing me back. I love doing these movies. This film was especially fun to shoot. But, this time might really be it. So I'm blowing this one out."
Closing quote

It certainly does sound like Bay is prepared to walk away. Still, he leaves the door open with that penultimate line: "but, this time might really be it." Quite a few qualifiers in that sentence, eh? Bottom line is, Bay has the right to change his mind if he wants to, and despite the critical panning, the Transformers franchise continues to make quite a
tidy profit with each installment.

At the very least, fans can certainly trust the last part of that statement. There can be no doubt that Transformers 5, which hits theaters on June 23rd, Bay will be blowing things up.
