A New 'X-Men' Animated Series May Be in the Works
Disney-ABC Domestic Television
The news of these upcoming live action X-Men TV shows like Legion and a currently untitled project is all well and good, but what would be really great is a new X-Men animated series. Thankfully, it looks like we might get one.

According to Bleeding Cool News, sources at Marvel's recent creative summit have revealed that a new X-Men cartoon will be announced by the end of this year. If true, this is certainly welcome news to fans who recall the superb '90s series, which is fondly remembered as one of the greatest superhero cartoons out there (holding its own against other greats like Batman: The Animated Series) and was partly responsible for the X-Men boom of the '90s.

While not yet confirmed, an animated series would make sense, following the pattern of a recent thawing of relations between Marvel and the X-Men. It wasn't that long ago that Marvel had all but eliminated the X-Men from all merchandise and even the comics, but mutants have been slowly mounting a comeback. Deadpool is currently all over the Marvel Universe, and the X-Men are in the midst of a major comeback on the page with loads of new titles. Merchandise is also finally returning, and Marvel has been working alongside Fox on the confirmed shows like Legion and the untitled drama.

A new X-Men animated series would be great for the fans, and might even be a stepping stone toward finally getting the X-Men involved with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase Four anyone?
