Disney Reveals When Their 'Avatar' and 'Star Wars' Lands Are Opening
Disney/Lucasfilm
Disneyland and Walt Disney World are about to get much more science fiction-friendly, and a lot sooner than we previously thought.

The Avatar-themed land at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida, "Pandora: The World of Avatar," which was previously expected to open later this summer, now has a concrete opening date. The super high-tech theme park will open its doors on May 27, 2017, meaning we're just a few months away from seeing realistic and super creepy Na'vi animatronics up close and personal:

But as any Disney fan knows, Avatar is not the only new land heading to Disney parks. Both Florida and California are currently fast at work building massive Star Wars-themed lands, and now we finally have an idea of when those will be opening as well: in 2019. Granted, that's still a ways off and there's no specific date, but just knowing the year that we'll be able to strap ourselves into the Millennium Falcon is enough reason for us to start counting down the days.

Here's the official announcement about how "immersive" the Star Wars land at Disneyland and Disney World will be:

Pandora will feature a flight simulator that lets park-goers fly a mountain banshee, as well as a river journey ride through the land's bioluminescent forest. The Star Wars Lands will feature a Millennium Falcon ride, a battle against the First Order attraction, and a real live Star Wars cantina. 2019 can't come soon enough.
