'World War Z' Sequel is Delayed Without a New Release Date
Paramount Pictures
For fans of World War Z hoping to see the long-gestating sequel, we have some bad news. Paramount Pictures has just yanked the planned sequel from its upcoming schedule, putting its future in serious doubt, according to Variety.

The Brad Pitt movie was originally scheduled to come out on June 9, but since it hasn't even started production, it was pretty obvious that it would never debut on that date. But Paramount has not released a new date for World War Z 2, making fans nervous that the movie might not happen at all. Although an insider claims the studio is eyeing either 2018 or 2019 as a potential destination for the sequel.

While the sequel to the 2013 film is still searching for a director, among other things, at least one big name has decided to throw his hat into the ring to helm the sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fight Club director David Fincher has a strong interest in directing his old pal Brad in the movie, with a source claiming the director is, "very creatively interested in directing the movie." However, the report also states that if Paramount doesn't show more of an interest in actually making the film, then Fincher will likely bail, too.

Now does not appear to be the best time to be a World War Z fan. Zombie fans can at least take solace in how The Walking Dead will last a while longer.
