Teen Titans Are Back in this Animated 'The Judas Contract' Trailer

With Justice League: Dark now behind them, DC's typically impressive animated movies are marching forward with a new trailer for Teen Titans: The Judas Contract dropping today. And it's probably the closest we've gotten in a long time to the popular Teen Titans cartoon in 2003.

The movie will be a sequel to last year's Justice League vs. Teen Titans, but depending on how faithfully they follow the 1984 comic storyline it's adapting, this movie should likely stand on its own. Here's the trailer, released by IGN:

It looks much more like the 2003 show in design and tone than the Teen Titans Go! revival, featuring most of the regular crew: Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, two Robins (Damian Wayne, and Dick Grayson as Nightwing) and Terra, who appeared in the show's own, loose adaptation of the "Judas Contract" story. Since Cyborg is now part of the Justice League in most DC material, he's been swapped out for Blue Beetle.

The late Miguel Ferrer (RoboCop, Twin Peaks) will be voicing the villainous mercenary Deathstroke, known simply as "Slade" in the cartoon, in one of his final performances. Christina Ricci (The Addams Family, Speed Racer) will be voicing Terra, and most of the other Titans will have returning voice actors from Justice League vs. Teen Titans.

Besides including Damian Wayne and Blue Beetle, the movie also seems to be playing up the mind-controlling Brother Blood, none of which were in the original story by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. But the trailer makes all of them seem interesting.

There's currently no release date for Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, but later this year is likely.
