Early Details About the 'Stranger Things' Season 2 Plot are Revealed
Netflix
The trailer for season 2 of Stranger Things dropped during the Super Bowl (which is great) and revealed that there'll be no new episodes until Halloween (not so great). But the upside-down train is rolling now, and some new plot details have come out from Entertainment Weekly. Minor spoilers, but there shouldn't be anything huge if you're caught up on season 1.

First things first, the cosmic entrance to the Upside Down is still open. No, "first things first" did not mean Barb, we're getting there. Anyways, the rift is still open and Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) thinks he's seeing things from it. Co-creator Matt Duffer explains:
Opening quote
"He seems to be seeing images from the Upside Down - the question is whether they're real or not. So it seems like he's having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder."
Closing quote

His mother Joyce (Winona Ryder) is trying to help stabilize things for the family, and starts a relationship with a former classmate named "Bob," played by Sean Astin from The Goonies and Lord of the Rings. And not with Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour), who's just busy trying to handle the fallout from the whole mess in season 1. As for Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer), they'll both be mourning the apparent deaths of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Barb.

How Barb's death gets handled will be important to many fans, considering "Justice for Barb" was something Harbour promised the show would address. He also made it very clear that Barb is still absolutely dead, so nobody get their hopes up there. Eleven, as the trailer shows, is not so dead.

Beyond that, some new human villains will be appearing in the form of the siblings Max and Billy (Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery, the latter of which will play the red ranger in Power Rangers). And if you're hoping to see more of the interdimensional slugs like what Will coughed up, apparently Dustin will make friends with one, or something similar. Gaten Matarazzo described it as "a little creature I get to bond with."

Nothing revealed had been jaw-dropping, but it's a good idea of where each character will be when the new episodes start. Stranger Things season 2 will come out Halloween 2017.
