Michael Douglas Will Indeed Return in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp'
Marvel/Disney
Most MCU stars sign contracts for several movies at once, with the implication that their character's getting the axe if they don't. But Michael Douglas only signed on for Ant-Man, and since (spoilers) Hank Pym made it through the film in one piece, despite a gunshot wound, his role was up in the air for Ant-Man and the Wasp in 2018.

But it seems like Douglas' negotiations about returning have gone well, because he posted on Facebook today that not only is Dr. Pym returning, but that filming starts this summer. Accompanying that announcement was this tasteful pose:

Production begins in July, about a year before the film's release, and Douglas seems psyched to be back. Though he forgets that Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne will share half the film's title, after the first film's (pun intended) stinger showing her with the Wasp suit.

Getting ready to play Dr. Pym again in Ant-Man 2 shooting in July. Need to start growing the goatee now.

The return of stars Paul Rudd and Lilly were pretty certain since the beginning (again, names in the title), and Michael Pena has confirmed he'll be back as well. But beyond the main cast and director Peyton Reed's return, we otherwise know nothing about this movie in terms of what the plot or the villain will be.

One thing that set Ant-Man apart from other superhero fare was that it was first and foremost a heist movie, so it could be smart to bring back elements of that. More Giant-Man is also likely after Scott Lang pulled it off in Captain America: Civil War, even if Spider-Man got the best of him then.

But with so many Marvel movies out there, news tends to pick up closer to the film's release. We're only just starting to learn more about Black Panther, which comes out a few months earlier in February 2018. The Black Panther synopsis came out when filming started, so expect more Ant-Man/Wasp news in the next few months.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is currently scheduled to come out July 6, 2018.
